YW lesson #3 lm2 Building the Kingdom of God

Since the lesson was on BUILDING the Kingdom of God I went to Home Depot and bought a 4x4 to use for my handouts. I had them cut the board every 6''. So each block ended up only costing me $0.40. I just sanded each block and painted it black. I then went and took a picture of the Mt. Timpanogos Temple, and printed a quote & scripture I liked from the lesson. (I printed them all 3''x5'' to fit on the block. I mod podged an image on each side of the block. On the top I used a rub-on to put the girls name.

I found the cute image below HERE it is the YW theme for 2010.

For the lesson this week, we played a game I found HERE if you go to the site she has a printable version of the game board and game cards. Super Cute, and it was fun to do something different for the lesson.

winter snow

I know this one is blurry but I liked that it looks like glitter!
A perfect day! Pretty Snow and a blue sky.

I love when it snows at night and it lights up the whole sky.

YW lesson #2 lm2 Spiritual Gifts

We started out class reading D&C 46:8-26 and discussed a few spiritual gifts mentioned.
"To some is given one, and to some is given another, that ALL may be profited thereby" (D&C 46:12). This is a very important concept about Gifts of the Spirit. The gifts given to each of us are not just given for our own use but for others to benefit when we share that gift with others.

For a treat we had blueberry muffins & i liked the quote I found HERE

"Sometimes you can't see the Blueberries on the surface but if you take a bite there they are. Our gifts are much the same way. We must make an effort to find our Godlike qualities."

I had bought these little hand sanitizers a while a go when they were on SUPER clearance (I think $0.50 at the most). I knew I would tie them into a lesson sometime. It was kind of stretch but it worked?

We talked about how sometimes we use sanitizer to protect ourselves and sometimes we use it to protect others. Much like our spiritual gifts.

For example you may be given the gift of faith and never question the existence of God. You may be given that gift that others would believe on your words, that they might have eternal life if they continue faithful. (see here)

Wedding Cake

My neighbor asked if I would make her daughters wedding cake. I was a little surprised & nervous since I've never made a wedding cake. I do love a challenge so i said YES.

I had made a few fondant birthday cakes so I kind of new the process. I just did a little search on You Tube to learn a few helpful tricks. Here's the LINK that I liked best
You can pretty much find out how to do ANYTHING on you tube. Love it!!
I also found this on Martha for a step by step tutorial.
